Training Session on ‘Nutrition for Improvement of Physical and Mental Health Problems in Adolescents.’

As part of the Nutrition Week celebrations, a training session was conducted for teachers and parents by the Institute of Child Health at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, in association with Indian Academy of Pediatrics Delhi, Adolescent Health Academy Delhi, Association of Adolescent and Child Care in India, on the 2nd of September 2022.

Prominent speakers from the specialized field of adolescent healthcare addressed the teachers and parents on various areas impacting the holistic development of adolescents.

The session provided an insight on how an adolescent brain undergoes structural changes that influence their physical, behavioural and psycho-social parameters of wellbeing. Additionally, the speakers shared crucial information about complications ranging from hormonal changes in the body to possible nutritional deficits and eating disorders, and increased levels of stress and anxiety in teenagers post the pandemic.

The experts positively voiced and addressed the need of awareness among teachers and parents and empowered them for early intervention, diagnosis and treatment of diverse physiological and psychological ailments impacting the process of growth and maturation of our budding leaders.
