International Yoga Day is observed every year on 21st June to raise awareness about this ancient practice and celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world.
Yoga is an important instrument in the collective quest of humanity for promoting sustainable lifestyle in harmony with planet Earth. In keeping with this spirit, the theme for this year’s Yoga Day celebrations was “Yoga for Humanity”. Yoga brings change in our lifestyle and creates awareness within us.
The Principal,Staff, parents and students of GDSPS celebrated 8th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm in the school multipurpose hall.
The event began with a brief introduction on Yoga Day by the yoga instructor. She emphasised the importance of yoga for mind, body and spirit. This was followed by breathing exercises, yoga asanas and reciting mantras for wholesome relaxation of body and mind.
The event was telecasted live on youtube which encouraged fruitful participation of all the pre-primary children. Doing yoga allowed children to learn self-control, enhance their focus and awareness. It also helped in improving concentration and attaining inner peace. All the students participated eagerly along with their family members. The faculties, staff and children also learnt the importance of Yoga in their life & how to maintain the harmony between body and mind.
