International Dimension in School Curriculum

Our school collaborated with the students of ‘Children’s Eternal Academy’, Kathmandu, Nepal under the project ‘Celebrating and Studying the festivals of India and Nepal’, and added the international dimension in the primary school curriculum. The aim of this project was to develop critical thinking and analyse how festivals promote unity, peace, harmony, brotherhood and morality. It also aimed at recognizing the oneness of principles and to respect the customs and traditions of India and Nepal. The school received the International School Award (ISA) for the period 2019-2022 from the British Council for its best projects and activities.

Video Conferences across the Globe

The students of classes VII – X participated in Tony Blairs’s Face to Faith Video Conference with Syed Pannah Ali Shah Model School, Pakistan and SMA Taruna Nusantara, Indonesia on the theme ‘Environment’. The students discussed about their lives and environment with one another and learned a great deal from each other. Students in Pakistan spoke about the city environment and educational institutions, whereas the village environment is very different and has fields, birds and mountains. The students also discussed the major environmental problems in their communities. Students from Indonesia remarked how people’s carelessness and apathy hurts the environment, and how people must realize that small actions can go a long way over time in helping the environment. They also talked about problems with traffic jams and overpopulation.

During the discussion session, students shared about some government actions that penalize those that pollute the environment. The school in Indonesia has a farm and is a green campus. Students from GDSPS spoke about how people worship plants as God, and about the religious rituals performed to purify the environment. Students from our school showed good questioning skills and demonstrated active listening.
