Montessori Activities:


Visit to Post Office – Keeping in mind the topic of the month ‘ Helpers’, the tiny tots of nursery class were taken to the nearby Post office to give them firsthand experience of how the letters are received , stamped and sent to various places. The work of the postman was explained and the letter box was shown. Children had fun talking to the people working in the post office. Little ones were very excited to do the worksheet related to post office after coming back to school.

Helpers Day – We live in a community where we cannot survive without the helpers. To explain the importance of helpers, ‘Helpers Day’ was organized in nursery classes wherein children came dressed up in interesting clothes as gardener, vegetable vendor, traffic policeman, doctor, teacher and baker.

Show and Tell – Show and Tell on the topic ‘Helpers’ was done to make the children understand the work of each helper does. Children spoke 5-6 lines on their favourite helper.

Primary Activities:

Show And Tell: On 8.10.12 SHOW AND TELL competition for KG classes on the topic ‘ festivals of India' was conducted. The students spoke really well on the festivals celebrated in various parts of the country.

Visit To Park: On the last day of school before the autumn break,KG students were taken out for a day out to a nearby park. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their day of fun and frolic in the green surroundings and open air.

Senior Activities :

Global Science Festival: A Global Science festival was organized by the American Embassy at Vishv Yuwak Kendra, New Delhi. The program was scheduled for 3 days ie 29th to 31st Oct 2012 and it had an inspiring theme – Don’t just read about Science – Do Science!!

The inauguration Session included a mesmerizing Cultural program that included dance performance by different schools of India and inspiring speeches by the eminent personalities such as Dr Desh Bandhu, President Indian Environment Society, Mr. Donald Maynord, Cultural Affairs Officer- North India program etc.

The Global festival continued with display of the models and power point presentation by different schools from all over the world.

The main purpose of this festival was to highlight the need of awareness of Eco clubs among the society, as these days every person in society is worried about environment. All the presentations served the purpose of making their theme/ topic so simple that it was understood by the audience. It consisted of lot of observational knowledge which displayed the hard work they have done in their research and how it was implemented in the form of projects in their schools.

This exchange program proved to be very beneficial as the young minds came across the scientific blend of east and west.



4 th GLOBAL CONFERENCE OF EDUCATION-2012: Edu Solutions organised the 4th Global Conference on Education at New Delhi. Sponsored by UTS: INSEARCH at India Habitat Centre, the 4th GCE was organised on the theme — Global issues and Concerns: Meeting the frontiers of education.

The aim of the conference, held on 17/10/2012 was to contribute to the knowledge base and dialogue on successful approaches to achieve high quality education. The conference started with ‘child wellbeing session’ conducted by Dr. Aruna Bootra.

Later, Dr. Jitender Nagpal and Mrs. Usha Albuquerque came up with career counseling and School Wellness Programme. Mrs. Jyotsna Bhardwaj, from NCERT spoke about the importance of training teachers as counselors.

Overall it was a great opportunity to understand the technique required for school based interventions in mental health and emerging policies in education.

Annual Cultural and Athletic Meet: G.D Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar celebrated its Annual Cultural and Athletic Meet with great fervour on 14TH October ’12 at the school grounds. 

The evening unravelled to the traditional lighting of the torch followed by a march past by the pride of the nation , The Rajputana Rifles Band . Prof. Kiran Walia (Hon'ble Minister for Education ) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest . The Guest of Honour for the evening was Hon’ble Shri. Justice(Retd.) Jaspal Singh Former Judge Delhi High Court ,Trustee, Salwan Education Trust . Other guests to embellish the event were Sh. S.D.Salwan, hon’ble Chairman (emeritus), Salwan Education Trust, Sh. Sushil Dutt Salwan, hon’ble Chairman, SET and Sh. Paramjit Khanna, hon’ble Chairman, GD Salwan Public School. 

The highlight of the evening was ‘ We Are The World’ which was a plethora of international dances along with an enthralling light and music show. All the dances from across the globe were a representation of beauty, grace, skill, tradition and history of their countries. It was not only an endeavour to acquire excellence in dance but also to instill the feeling of unity and the idea that every aspect of the diverse cultures around the world can be brought together for good. 

The students looked resplendent in their ethnic costumes. The ground reverberated with the loud melodious music. Dances like Chinese Fan dance , the Cow Boy dance based on the country-western music , Paso Doble which is also known as the pride of Spain , Flamenco which is again a mirror image of Paso Doble and the Sufi dance resonating with sound and loving intention while remembering the Divine Source, showcased the prodigious talent of the students .

The children thrilled the audience with their mellifluous songs and their graceful dance performances left the audience spellbound. The choreography of the dance performances was par excellence.

It was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. Special awards for excellence in sports, music, art etc were given to the meritorious students. The children were given prizes for their outstanding achievements in various sports . Samridhi Kakkar of class IX B was awarded the Best Female Athlete of the year and Himanshu Soni of class XB was awarded the Best Male Athlete of the year award .

The school Principal Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Singh congratulated the students who received certificates and trophies and said that they had set examples for other students to emulate. She, however, said that the award should not make the students complacent and they should continue to strive for excellence.

The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour lauded the synergistic efforts of the participants and were overwhelmed by the performance. They called it a flowing, flamboyant and a scintillating performance. Prof .Kiran Walia while addressing the students said that it was a grand show and that the performance of the children was outstanding.
