Mother’s Day Celebration at GDSPS  Snapshots.

Classes: I-V

“A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take”
It is truly said, “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mother. ”Mother’s Day is a special day, for all children and mothers as, it celebrates the bond of love and affection that is everlasting. Mothers are the emotional backbone of the family, who have the magic touch to heal all wounds and make all things beautiful.
The celebration started with a teacher-talk in every class highlighting the irreplaceable place mothers hold in the lives of children. The students of GDSPS were given an opportunity to show their appreciation for their mothers on May 8, 2019. To show their love and respect for their mothers, the students of Primary wing participated in array of activities like Card Making, Photo frame Making and Jewellery Making. The teachers praised the efforts of the students and urged the young generation to be more appreciative towards all that their mothers do for them.
A Jewellery-making workshop was organized for classes VI-VIII, wherein the students made jewellery using paper, as a gift for their mothers.

                                                               Visit to Kingdom of Dream

"The best things in life are the people we love, the places we have been and the memories we have made along the way."
An excursion is not just a pleasure trip; rather it is an extension of the classrooms. It is a part and parcel of students’ life and provides them with much needed leisure imparting them first-hand knowledge of people and places.
Gyan Devi Salwan Public School, in an endeavour to impart valuable knowledge to students about the rich and varied heritage and culture of India, organized an educational and fun-filled excursion to Kingdom Of Dreams for the students of classes III-V on May 10, 2019. The students were thrilled to see a spectacular world of unparalleled imagination which brought to them a blend of Indian culture and heritage. Modern and traditional India was showcased to them in an entertaining format. The students got an opportunity to witness a musical comedy, Jhumroo which evoked beautiful memories intricately linked with Indian cinema. The show was filled with evergreen tunes and had actors who struck all the right chords. The magic of Indian Cinema came alive with stunning and electrifying stage performance. Mesmerized by the beautiful act, the students danced and expressed their happiness and joy.
Students went through “Cultural Gully,” which is the food boulevard at the complex. In a unique yet endearing way, the students got an opportunity to witness the states of India come to life with their sumptuous lunch.
On the whole, the students had a mesmerizing experience, witnessing the beautiful glimpses of our country’s art, culture, craft, cuisine and performing art, all with the technological wizardry of today.

   Visit to British Council Library  Snapshots.

‘That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.’ Jhumpa Lahiri
With the aim to inculcate love for books and witness the expanse of one of the best libraries in Delhi, students of class V got the opportunity to visit British Council of Library on 2nd May, 2019.
After receiving a warm welcome, children were given a tour of the library, wherein they could read a book of their choice. From fiction to books based on scientific temper, children were ecstatic to explore an array of books under one roof. The students enthusiastically watched the movie ‘Show Dogs’. Lastly the students were apprised of the summer school courses provided at the British Council.
It was truly an enriching experience for the students. One take away that everyone carried is to read and read plenty.

   Firefox Fun Activities  Snapshots.

“Cyclists see more of this beautiful world than any other class of citizens.”
Almost every adult’s fondest childhood memories is of cycling in the summers with their friends for endless hours in the sun. Firefox cycle brand organised a fun-filled day for the primary students on 9.5.19 to rekindle the joy of cycling as well as provide an opportunity to give a thought to the pollution crisis that the world is facing. It is but obvious, the delight of cycling only derives from the wonderful environment we cycle in.
A host of activities were conducted for the primary students.
Class I and II: Colouring and Fancy Dress Competition on the theme “Save Environment”. The little artists participated in the competition with great zeal and enthusiasm and at the same time took great care to colour their masterpieces with their creativity. The audience was left spell bound as the little ones walked the ramp displaying their vibrant and thought provoking costumes.  
Class III and IV: Obstacle Race. Amidst thunderous cheering, students competed against each other in the obstacle race on the latest models of Firefox cycles. The students won hearts with their exuberance and enthusiasm.
Class V: Group Discussion on the theme ‘Diverse Forms of Environmental Pollution and their Solutions’.
Participants enthusiastically discussed the theme among themselves for 20 minutes followed by a question session round from the judges. Participants impressed everyone with their knowledge and oratory skills.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE- To develop creative and innovative skills and enhance imagination
LEARNING OUTCOME: Expressed their love for others
Learned to express emotions and engage themselves.

CLASS II and III: TOPIC- MOTHER’S DAY CARD
Date: 8th May, 2019
LEARNING OBJECTIVE- to enable students to follow clear instructions to use their motor skills in cutting and pasting, writing expressive feelings for their mothers through art.
LEARNING OUTCOME: students prepared beautiful cards and gifted them to their mother

CLASS IV AND V: TOPIC- PHOTO FRAME and JEWELLARY MAKING
Date: 8th May, 2019
LEARNING OBJECTIVE- to enable students to understand the importance of photo-framing to preserve and enhance pictures
LEARNING OUTCOME: The students learnt how to make photoframes by using ice cream sticks and jewellery making use of glitter sheets.

 

CLASS IV AND V: TOPIC- AFRICAN MASK

Date: 3rd May, 2019
LEARNING OBJECTIVE- to enable students to understand the culture of other countries and work in teams in order to understand global culture.
LEARNING OUTCOME: The students enjoyed making African masks. The students’ creativity displayed on the notice board enhanced their confidence.

 

CLASS 6: JAMINI ROY

Date: 14th May, 2019
TOPIC: TEEN PUJARANS
LEARNING OBJECTIVE- to enable students to appreciate the work of famous Indian artist Jamini Roy - identify and produce the art style used by Jamini Roy
LEARNING OUTCOME: The students learnt about the famous personalities in art and made efforts to copy down their learning style.

 

CLASS7: CUBISM

Date: 14 May, 2019

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Students will be able to gain an understanding and awareness for the cubist style of artists such as picasso, braque. analyze a work of art in terms of the artist's use of line, shape, form, colour, value, and texture
LEARNING OUTCOME:  Students learnt artistic processes and skills, using a variety of media to communicate meaning and intent in original works of art.

 

CLASS 8: M.F HUSSAIN PAINTING-GANESHA

Date: 17th May, 2019

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To discuss the influence of the progressive contemporary artist group
LEARNING OUTCOME: The students learnt about the most renowned artist of India M.F Hussain and showed their creative skills by trying their hand in the Ganesh painting made by M.F Hussain.

 

JEWELLERY MAKING WORKSHOP

CLASS VI TO VIII

The students learnt making jewellery boxes with paper craft. A workshop was organized by Times of India, which was conducted by the artist Ms.Alka Gaba. She taught the students the art of making jewellery using paper. They celebrated Mother’s Day by gifting the jewellery to their mothers. It was a good learning experience for the students.

                                                                  Stretching out to reach beyond comfort………  Snapshots.

Trip to Bhimtaal and Padampuri
A mountain may look huge and far off; however you can climb it with small, consistent and determined steps.
The idea is to come out of the comfort zone and expand your consciousness.

Life skills creatively added to the educational systems, teach children to be responsible along with seeking academic excellence.

With an aim to imbibe values of leadership skills, cooperation and responsibility, G.D. Salwan Public School plans excursions for students on the onset of Summer Vacation. This year students of classes VI, VII and VIII had an opportunity to visit Bhimtaal and Padampuri.
Starting from Delhi on the night of May 18, a group of forty students, along with four teachers, reached Hotel Amod Resort, Bhimtaal, on the following morning. The students had a refreshing welcome with a splash at the swimming pool. They enjoyed boating at Bhimtaal Lake. Back in hotel, they were engaged in activities like Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Zip line. The evening came alive with their energetic dance.
 
The visit to Padampuri was a lifel time opportunity for experiential learning, wherein they stayed in camps in groups of three or four and had fun with the water sports like floating, cliff jumping and Kayaking.

Activities such as Rappling, Burma Bridge, river crossing and Zip lining were performed by the students and teachers under the supervision of trained coaches.

It was an enjoyable trip and enriching experience for the students.
