BOOK CARNIVAL

Date: 20th May, 2017
Venue: G.D. Salwan Public School premises

To inculcate the love for reading books, G.D. Salwan Public School holds its annual feature, ‘Book Carnival- Your Ticket to Read’.
This year the event was held on 20th May in the school premises and students from class VI-XI participated in it with great enthusiasm. The vibrant event was adorned with colourful buntings. The event was inaugurated by the oldest employee of GDSPS support staff, Mr. Ramnath who valued reading and motivated his children to study and lead a respectful life.

The Book Carnival was a reasonable indication of what children are reading these days. It was also a fair reflection of what reading material is available for children today.

Students from all the classes visited the stalls and enjoyed playing the games organized by them. It was full of fun and great learning for the students.

ACTIVITIES – MAY, 2017

Summer is the time of infinite fun. The day seems to last forever, and the fun never stops.
To celebrate the arrival of the summer season, Gyan Devi Salwan Public School organized SUMMER FIESTA - a week of fun-filled activities for students with the aim of enhancing their imagination, developing their motor skills, social skills, understanding and recreation.

The delightful week included the following events to enable our children understand the concept of summer season. Extra-curricular activities help to shape their future by giving them courage and confidence to forge ahead.

Day 1: Movie Time
A short movie on the summer season was shown on 8.05.2017, Monday. The main aim was to enlighten the children about the significance of summer season.

Day 2: Water Ball Toss, Ice-cream fundae
To beat the scorching heat of summers, a fun activity of water ball toss was conducted in the school premises on 9.05.2017, i.e., Tuesday. In this activity, the children had to toss the ball into a water tub from a certain distance. All the children actively participated in the activity and enjoyed a lot. There is nothing more enjoyable than playing in water to get a respite from the summer heat.
To get a relief from summer heat, ice-cream was served to the children to make their summer fiesta truly delightful.

Day 3: Hat Decoration
Arts and crafts are fun for children. These art & craft activities cover a wide range of subjects for young artists, future book designers, potential puppeteers, and more. These aren't just arts and crafts for kids; they're fun for the whole family too! Therefore, a hat decoration activity was conducted with the students. The students enjoyed decorating their hats on Thursday, 11.05.2017. The decoration activity provided an excellent inspiration to the children.

Day 4: Word Bank
On 12.05.2017, Friday, a word bank activity was conducted with the students. They enjoyed learning new words related to the summer season and wrote the new words in the cut outs of summer fruits. This activity helped them to enhance their vocabulary.
