Montessori Activities:

Ice cream delight : To Beat the summer heat a sumptuous & scrumptious ice cream treat was organized for the tiny tots.

Yellow Colour Day : For the recognition of the Primary Colour Yellow– ‘Yellow Colour Day ‘ was held. Little ones were involved in various activities related to yellow colour.Children enjoyed all the activities done .Yellow colour butterfly head gears was a treat for the eyes.

Mother’s Day card making : To show the love to their mothers the kid’s made beautiful cards.

Primary Activities:

Mother’s day cards: “It is true that there is only one pretty child in the whole world, and every mother has it”. On the occasion of mother’s day on 08.05.12. KG students made beautiful cards for their lovely mothers. The children were very enthusiastic for making something special for their mothers.

Ice-cream delight: What better way to beat the heat than a cup of delicious cool ice-cream. KG students thoroughly enjoyed the sweet treat.

Inter-Class G.K.Quiz: An inter class G.K.Quiz was organized for classes I-V On 15 th May 2012 . There were different rounds for the quiz like rapid fire, audio-visual, buzzer and current affairs round. Students answered the question well, amidst loud cheers from the audience. The students prepared the topics thoroughly. The following classes won the quiz

The students were encouraged and applauded by the co-ordinators for their efforts .

INTER-HOUSE PAPER READING COMPETITION: Inter-house paper reading competition was organized on 15 May where one student of each house was selected and prepared . The competition was judged on parameters like speed/fluency/pronunciation, voice modulation etc . Anal house won the competition . Avni house scored the second position followed by Achal house.

 Senior Activities :

Workshop on Quality Education Study : A school Leadership Seminar by Wipro and Educational Initiatives was held in the India Habitat Centre in Delhi on May 5th, 2012. The event was organized to disseminate and discuss the findings of the Quality Education Study . The study was conducted to understand student performance, student attitude & values, learning environments and co-scholastic areas like art, sport and music in the school. The objective of the study was to inform and broaden the debates on quality in education.

Visit To Pusa Institute: The students of IX A and B visited PUSA institute on -10th MAY 2012. A documented film was screened for them. The film showed how and where the INDIAN AGRICUTURE REASERCH SYSTEM began . It was interesting to know That PUSA started its journey from Bihar by an American agriculture scientist Henry Philip.

The students got a chance to see various implements , agriculture tools, crop fields and green houses. Hybrid varieties of a range of vegetables were grown in green houses.

The visit was a part of their project to give them first hand information of different techniques of agriculture.

Report On Heritage Studies– A Future Pedagogical Base For All Subject Teachers: The Train-the-Trainers programme on an ‘Innovative Teaching Approach of Social Sciences was taken up by GD Salwan Public School under the aegis of SET on 17th May 2012.

The overall objective of this workshop was to provide a deeper understanding of and possibly an identification of the future pedagogical knowledge base of teachers, based on -the current state of the Heritage studies, a profound understanding of the future needs in knowledge and skills for the 21st century learner, worker and citizen, and an analysis of the institutional environments in which learning will take (including technological resources) and the challenges facing teachers in these environments. It also pondered on Presentation on Management, Challenges and implementation of CCE in Social Science, conducting of the FA activities, maintenance of anecdotal records and managing the needs of special children and accreditation.

Dr. Naveena Jafa suggested the methodology of taking heritage as a central club, and firing the imagination of the child and counseling him/her on various career options available by adopting a monument. She also highlighted the importance of parental involvement by suggesting to hold a activity oriented PTM at the monument. She wrapped up her address by posing a challenge before the teacher and the student as to how they visualize the future of the monument in the next 20 years.

Investiture ceremony : GD Salwan Public School , Rajinder Nagar recreated the excitement and drama of real elections in school!! Investiture Ceremony held in GD Salwan Public School , Rajinder Nagar on 11 May ’12.

It was an attempt to actively engage students with the political, social and moral issues that concern them by giving them the opportunity to stand as party candidates, speech writers and canvassers in a mock election. Students voiced their opinions by engaging in a fun active citizenship exercise which provided an excellent introduction to the mechanics and issues involved in an election.

The elections were followed by the Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected Student Council members for the academic session 2012 -13 on 11 May ‘12 . The deserving candidates were nominated by all the teachers , with conscious deliberation .

The head boy, the head girl and the school council was sworn by the Chief Guest Lt Colonel Mahesh Inder Singh Gill. He encouraged the new council with words filled with warmth , hope and inspiration .

The oath of office was administered by the Principal , Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Singh . The oath encapsulated the spirit of commitment and dedication that a student council member needs to imbibe to promote a positive functioning of the school .

The passing out student council then solemnly handed over the flags to the new student council members as a gesture of additional responsibilities to the new council. The ex- house captains invested the new students by adorning them with house coloured badges. The council Head Ms. Seema Goyal alongwith the Housemistresses had organized the ceremony .

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Mrs.Vijay Laxmi Singh.

Bhavya Popli & Gurbani Chabra were elected as the Headboy and the headgirl.

The other highlights of the programme were ‘the Journey of Democracy ‘a small skit presented by students of class X and an enthralling dance performance depicting the rich cultural heritage of Delhi . I t was named a s “ Dilli hain Dilwalon ki “.

The members of the student council were presented with their badges by the outgoing leaders of 2010-11 session. Bhavya Popli & Gurbani Chabra were elected as Headboy & headgirl. The council were administered the oath by the Principal Mrs Vijaylaxmi Singh & they pledged to carry out their duties with sincerity & give their best to the institution.

Inter class essay writing competition

An inter class essay writing competition was held on 15th May 2012, different topics were given to the classes. The theme was Heritage of professions and Landscapes.

Class VI-VIII—Changing professions in India (last 100 years)

Class IX-XI—Changing Landscapes in India (last 100 years)

The response of the students was overwhelming and was the rich Dharohar what came as a record for the activity.

CSE Workshop : GSP : How green is my school?: GSP : Green School Teachers training programme was conducted by the Centre of Science and Environment on 15th and 16th May 2012 at Tughlakabad Institutional Area, New Delhi. Over the course of two days, the resource persons Mr. Ashish Shah, Ms. Ajanta Sikdar and Ms. Sumita Das discussed how environment education can be made more interesting and practical inside the school.

They specified that we need to change the way we manage our natural resources, alter our consumption patterns and innovate with current technologies so that we can improve the environment around us.
