A five day program was held at RIE , Ajmer by Paryavaran Mitra and NCERT for strengthening school educational programs and training of school children for generating environmental awareness.
There were three categories of participantion – Best school , Best teacher and best student , our school was in category of Best school at national level. Exhibition was displayed by all at theme park and various schools of Ajmer visited the show. The school and RIE college girls were excited to see pen stand made out of bangles and old tape holder. The center of attraction was helicopter made out of old PET bottle which was working and the best part was it was made by a class 5 child.


Many games  like quiz, snake and ladder, making web of life  etc and other activities were  organized by Paryavaran mitra . I also went around and visited stalls to see a creative side of participants.


It was a great learning process to see how students and teachers from all over India are working together for the cause of environment and it’s protection. A valediction  ceremony took place on the fifth day and people congratulated each other. Our school was also shortlisted for Best school at National level and the only school in Delhi to be selected.

Report on the Fire and Safety Drill conducted on 18th February,2015

 

The Mock Drill for Earthquake/Fire and Life Safety was conducted in our school on 18.2.15 .Mr.Rajesh Shukla from Fire Safety Department C.P branch had come to supervise the drill and also to give useful information.

He suggested to first conduct a surprise mock drill for earthquake. He also suggested that hooters for Earthquake and Fire Safety drills have to be different.

The hooter for the earthquake drill was pressed. The students and teachers remained in the class and did the ‘Drop Cover and Hold’ activity in the class and on the second hooter they started evacuating the school for the Fire Workshop which was conducted in the school ground under the supervision of Mr. Rajesh Shukla

Workshop on An Approach to Assessment

A one day workshop was organized by ACER on the Key concepts of assessment and reporting.
The purpose of the workshop was to educate the teachers on how to use good quality assessments to monitor student growth and to share best teaching and learning practices.
Other points which were discussed in the workshop were the purpose of assessment, understanding student growth and scales, how to use scales to measures progress, assessing Higher Order Thinking skills and question difficulty levels.

WORKSHOP ON ADULT EDUCATION

A workshop on the importance of fruits was organized for classes VI by HRIDAY SHAN.  Ms. SANYA (nutritionist) from the NGO took the session.
The objective of the workshop was to create awareness among the students regarding the importance of eating fruits everyday. The students were encouraged to incorporate fruits with other food groups to improve nutritional quality in their daily diet. The students were inspired to share and understand the goodness of fruits with their family and friends.
Importance of balanced diet in our daily meal was also discussed. The students had an interactive session on fruits rich in vitamins, minerals and fruit fibre.
The session concluded with a crossword. It was an interactive and informative session.

Inter-House Indian History/Heritage and Sports Quiz

As part of the monthly activities, an Inter-House Indian History/Heritage and Sports Quiz was conducted on 2nd February, 2015 for classes IX and X. The teams from each house had two participants, one student each from class IX and X. The teams were well prepared with the Indian history, art and sports.

Intra-Class Calligraphy Competition
To explore creativity among the students and provide them with an opportunity to improve their handwriting, Gyan Devi Salwan Public School, organized a Calligraphy Competition in English and Hindi for the students on 10 February, 2015 and 11 February, 2015. An Inter-Class Skating Competition was organized for the students of class KG on Friday, 20 February, 2015. Educational Trip
School excursions enhance students’ learning by providing the opportunities for students to participate in curriculum-related activities outside the normal school routine. Such activities aim to maximize students’ learning experiences.
Gyan Devi Salwan Public School organized an educational trip for the students of class KG to National Bal Bhawan, Red Fort, Raj Ghat, National Museum of Natural History and Nehru Museum on Saturday, 21 February, 2015 through unique Hop on Hop off (HOHO) buses to develop students’ interest in history through visual experiences. Guest Relation Executives were present on board with live commentary on PA system to educate students about Delhi’s heritage. The students, alongwith their teachers, visited various historical landmarks of Delhi to enjoy the exquisite beauty of Delhi. It was surely a worthwhile educational outing and the students took back lots of memories to cherish.

 

 

 

PEC Activity
Good physical health is one of life's real passions.  Happy is the one who masters it while a young child.
To improve their eye-hand coordination, concentration and gross motor skills, the students were asked to cross the hurdles and roll-on the carpet. The PEC Activity was immensely enjoyed by the little ones.

 

 

 

Inter-Class English Story Dramatization Competition
Dramatization has a very positive effect on language development and confidence building in a child. Inter-Class English Dramatization Competition was conducted on Friday, 27 February, 2015 for KG students in which they participated with full enthusiasm. The plays were based on moral stories.  The event witnessed the student’s confidence, expressions and oratory skills.  The performances were highly appreciated by the judge - Ms. Divya Kumar. The First Prize was bagged by KG-B.
