३० दिसम्बर, २०१६ को छठी से आठवी कक्षा  के छात्रों के लिए अन्तर्सदनीय मीरा पदावली गायन प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गयाI
इस प्रतियोगिता का उद्देश्य बच्चों को भक्ति- काल  की काव्य शैली से अवगत कराना तथा मीराबाई की कृष्ण के प्रति प्रेम भक्तिभाव से परिचित कराना था I

बच्चों ने उपरोक्त प्रतियोगिता में उत्सुकतापूर्वक भाग लेकर उपस्थित श्रोतागण को भावविभोर कर दियाI

ENTHUSIA- 2016: GDSPS PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS DAY

G.D. Salwan Public School organized ‘Enthusia’- 2016, primary school Sport Day on 28th December, 2016 in the school grounds with 100% participation of the students, who showed great zeal, excitement and enthusiasm.

 

Padma Shri Bajrang Lal Takhar, Arjun awardee, VSM graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with a welcome song to celebrate the true spirit of sportsmanship. Hon’ble Chairman GDSPS Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Shri Mahinder Singh Ghai, VSM encouraged the participants with his motivational words. The Athletic Squad led by the Primary Sports Captain, Yashvi Tushid was greeted with a huge round of applause as they walked smartly across the ground. The ceremony continued with the torch relay, releasing of balloons and swearing in by the Athletic squad.

 

The students displayed a wide array of colourful and reverberant events such as yoga, aerobics, flower drill and Latin and fan dances. The first presentation was a combination of self-defense and gymnastics. Athletes from Classes I-V competed in different races in different age groups. The tiny tots of kindergarten performed parachute drills with great enthusiam. All the spectators were left spell bound by the synchronized scintillating performances.

 

The Cultural Event proceeded with the Grand Finale. It was a joyful moment when the chief guest appreciated the efforts of participants, teachers and student council for putting up such a brilliant show. The winners were awarded with medals and certificates by the Chief Guest and Hon’ble Chairman GDSPS. Mr. Chandrashekhar, one of the parents, moved the vote of thanks. The eventful day concluded with the National Anthem.

RENDEZVOUS WITH MONEY MATTERS
(TOPIC : DEMONETIZATION OF INDIAN CURRENCY)


DATE  : 21 DEC’16
PARTICIPANTS : 7 STUDENTS OF CLASS XI B 
OBJECTIVE : To understand the changes in the country’s economy; study the issues in depth forming one’s own opinion; discuss the impact and future prospects .
A talk show was conducted by the students of class XI B ,who discussed the on-going issue : ‘Demonetization of Indian currency’. The students played the roles of anchors and experts from different sectors of the economy  (namely economist , banker , social activist , BJP and Congress spokesperson ) . The students argued on the issue and presented their opinion on the same. It was an informative session, wherein the students understood the actions taken by the Government and RBI and became aware about what is going in the economy and how it has affected everyone

ROCKSPORT ADVENTURE CAPSULE

 

GD Salwan Montessori School organized an Adventure Camp, on Saturday, 17.12.2016 in the school ground. The school playground was converted into adventure hub with tents pitched all around accompanied with infrastructure of the camping activities. The camp was a combination of fun-filled games and life skills activities which made the learning experience of the students richer, joyful and rewarding. The activities helped to inculcate courage, patience, determination, leadership, confidence, team spirit and a love for the environment.


The participants were given a thrilling and unforgettable experience of a plethora of adventure sport activities like Zip Line, Commando Net, Burma Bridge, Magical Maze, Zorbing, Hippity Hop Race, Hop Scotch, Hamster Wheel, Dragon Move Cross Fire, etc. Apart from these activities, the adventure team experts also taught the participants gang claps, group hugs  and gave hooting a new definition altogether. The students participated with full enthusiasm, cheering for one another and enjoying all the activities.

A DAY CAMP AT DEVA FARMS, G.T. KARNAL ROAD

 

Date: 17th December, 2016


A day camp was organized at DEVA Farms, G.T. Karnal Road on Saturday, 17th December, 2016 for classes VI-XI. The students enjoyed various adventurous activities such zip line, zorbing, river crossing, shooting, camel ride, etc. They also relished the traditional food served to them. It was a day full of adventure and thrill for the students.

ACCOUNTANCY WORKSHOP

Topic : REVISION OF THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS IN ACCOUNTANCY (CLASS XII) AND TIPS TO WRITE A PERFECT BOARD PAPER.

Attended by : Mrs. Aarti Mittal alongwith 19 students of class XII B
The objective of the workshop was to provide tips to write a perfect board exam and discuss the common mistakes committed by the students in writing board exam.
The resource person also explained the changes in the syllabus in the year 2016-17. He took Accounting treatment of ‘Employee Stock Option Plan’ in detail and ensured 100% participation of the students.
It was highly useful and informative session for the students.

WORKSHOP ON PUBLIC MEETING ON LABELLING, CLAIMS AND ADVERTISEMENT

A Workshop on Public meeting on labelling, claims and advertisement was conducted by Ms. Sunita Narain, Director General Center of Science and Environment at India Habitat Centre. The speaker Ms. Narain opened up the forum with a presentation on “food labelling and claims”. She covered up many important topics including Food and Health linkages , over nutrition and under nutrition, changing behaviour and food habits, labelling which is critical for informed choice , selective disclosure of many food items like sodium content, sugar content etc., due to weak regulations, serving size declaration is inconsistent due to weak law and celebrity endorsement of products.
She also emphasized that the role of state is of great importance and should intervene when food companies use their position to influence dietary habits directly or indirectly encouraging unhealthy diets, which negatively affecs people’s health. Government should acknowledge the duty of protecting children from digital marketing. Government should develop appropriate sanction and penalty mechanism for non-compliance of regulations.

WINTER WONDER WEEK (19.12.2016 TO 23.12.2016)

 

The Winter Wonder Week, celebrated in high Christmas spirit, was undoubtedly the most memorable and enjoyable week for children.

 

Day 1: Decorating Christmas tree
The students enjoyed decorating Christmas Trees on Monday, 19.12.2016. For the little ones, decorating the tree was just fun. Engaging them in such fun-filled activities, helps inculcate a feeling of joy, an urge to make friends and they also learn to cooperate with each other.

 


Day 2: Christmas card: Cotton pasting on a snowman
Students used cotton balls to make a "Cottony Snowman" on Tuesday, 20.12.2016. This craft activity is a great way to work on fine motor skills such as colouring, gluing, and managing cotton. It is also a fun way to incorporate body awareness, by discussing all the body parts and facial features that can be added to the snowman.

 


Day 3: Educational Visit: Church
Church is a perfect setting for enquiring about, engaging with and sharing the Christian faith. The students were taken to Bible Bhawan, Khan Market on Wednesday, 21.12.2016. Church services included carol singing (happy songs which tell the Christmas story) which was followed by Gift giving to all students (Representing the ‘spirit of giving’ for which Christmas is known). The story of Jesus Christ’s birth (the nativity) was narrated to the students through a short play. The students were also served with light refreshment. It was an excellent and memorable visit.

 


Day 4: Santa Race and Christmas Celebration (Christmas Party)
Santa Race was organized for the students on Thursday, 22.12.2016 wherein wearing a Santa cap each child ran fast, collected the Christmas decorations and raced to the finish line. 
Later in the day, the students had their long-anticipated Christmas theme party full of fun activities and treats for excited little children! Students enjoyed dancing and sharing lots of party food with their friends. All in all, it was a super fun day spent celebrating Christmas and having fun with friends.

 


Day 5: Special Assembly: Christmas
Joy and gaiety pervaded the atmosphere as the students of Montessori Wing celebrated Christmas with enthusiasm and fervour. A Special Assembly was presented by students of class Nursery-A on Friday, 23.12.2016.
The beautiful Christmas decor in the Amphitheatre beckoned all to the festive preparations for the day’s celebration. A live Crib on stage depicted Christ’s birth in the Manger on 25th December. The event started with Christmas carols sung melodiously by the students of all classes. This was followed by narration of the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, thus spreading the message of love, joy and peace.  The children in their bright and colourful costumes were a delight to watch. The audience comprising of parents, teachers and students, were left spellbound with the enthralling dance performance. Children promised to celebrate Christmas with a new spirit of caring and sharing, to spread the joy of the season around.

 

 

PEC Activity: Responding to commands and signals
Fire in the mountain - was used to help students respond correctly to auditory commands in a timely manner. In addition, they used their mental agility to form groups of the given number.
Traffic Signals - was conducted using traffic lights to help students respond correctly to visual commands in a timely manner. Students were asked to make a circle and respond to the visual commands like:  ‘Green Light’ meant students had to keep moving, ‘Yellow Light’ meant they had to wait in a ‘Get Ready’ position and ‘Red’ meant they had to stand still.
