Objective:
In a short period on only 2 years, since taking up the sports, i have been able to prove myself with very
encouraging results in the International Shooting Championship in Shul and Pilzen and National Championship Competitions where I also created a  NEW NATIONAL RECORD and impressive tally of medals. I am the HIGHEST SCORER IN ENTIRE INDIA in the event of Sports Pistol and second in Center Fire Pistol and Standard Pistol, in the last concluded National Shooting Championship.  This performance is despite the fact that i do not get to practice by firing live rounds. The only practice i gets with live rounds is at the coaching camps and trails organized by NRAI. I have been fortunate enough to be personally coached by Shri D.K.Shukla, who is a former coach for Indian shooting team with 20 years of experience. If i can do this in 2 years of taking up this sport, i am sure, In the time to come, with my skill, dedication, discipline and zeal i will bring pride to my country and my discipline of Shooting and make it an extremely popular sports in India.

GDSPS accredited with International School Award

Gyan Devi Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar is the proud recipient of the prestigious International School Award (ISA) 2015-18 for the third time. The school has been honoured by the British Council for `Outstanding Development of the International Dimension in the Curriculum' with a trophy and certificate. More than 2000 schools from all over India applied for the ISA Award 2015-2018. The award ceremony was held at Kepenski Ambience, New Delhi in a packed gathering of British High Commission officials, leading educationalists and school leaders.
The school has integrated the global dimension in its curriculum through inter-cultural international learning, activities, competitions, celebrations and online projects with schools in different parts of the world. The dossier of evidences presented by the school to the British Council was highly appreciated by the ISA Assessment Panel which gave rave reviews about all the activities undertaken. The ISA journey brought about a rich exchange of ideas and broadening of vision of students as they undertook various international projects with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm, making learning joyful and enriching. The awards were handed over by Bob Lynes, Director, British Council India, Susan Douglas, Senior Education Advisor, British Council, Mark Herbert, global Head of Schools Programmes at the British Council, Ritika Chanda Parruck, Assistant Director of Schools Programme, Ruchira Ghosh, Director, South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations and George Glass, Deputy Director of schools programme at the British Council.
Working with partner schools in other countries has made the students aware of the international education system and other programmes. Students exchanged messages and greetings through handmade cards. They enjoyed sharing their day-to-day learning, comparing traditions, festivals and dances with schools in U.K. The International School Award (ISA) is a benchmarking scheme that accredits schools for nurturing global citizenship in young learners and enriching teaching and learning following best international practices.

The day was marked by the presence of Mr. Sanjeev Datta, Ms. Vandana Balyan – Deputy Chief of NIE-TOI and Major General Navneet Khanna, Director, GD Salwan Public School.

For the past three decades, Mr. Sanjeev Datta has served as an indelible mentor, philosopher and guide to thousands of individuals. A recognized authority in leadership development, theatre-induced-confidence building measures and inculcation of peak performances; Mr. Sanjeev Datta has consistently been working towards humanitarian endeavours. He even invented the unique and rare Theatrical Action Method (TAM) to boost confidence in kids.

The event was hosted by Mr. Biram Datta who facilitated the audience and the participants. The competition was divided into three categories - Junior, Middle School and Senior.

Each participant had to go through three rounds. The first round consisted of confidence and attitude walk followed by Character Presentation wherein the participants had to enact Mahatama Gandhi and convey his teachings and values in the best way they could. The last round was an impromptu question answers round where participants had to answer the questions written on a chit, randomly picked up by them. The questions were based on their personal experiences, likes and dislikes. To make the event more interactive the Team of Sanjeev Datta School mimicked some characters like Mark Antony from Shakespeare’s play ‘Julius Caesar’ and a funny South Indian Character, and students followed enthusiastically.

Before the declaration of results there was an Interactive Session with the audience and students actively participated in the discussion which provided each and every student an opportunity to share their experiences and opinions.

YOUNG MASTERS PROGRAMME

With the emerging development paradigm and life-style changes, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is viewed as a critical tool to initiate the process of sustainable development to achieve global prosperity and empower people. Young people, especially students are encouraged to participate and facilitate the SD process on a priority basis. Keeping this in mind, International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden has partnered with CEE to launch its Young Masters Programme (YMP) on Sustainable Development in India. This Programme envisions to improve the understanding of sustainability challenges faced today; to develop tools that turn these challenges into possibilities; and to empower young people in terms of personal international networks, hands-on proactive methods, capacity building and local projects that can make a difference.
The student group from class VIII-IX namely, Vaani Aggarwal, Saurabh Gupta, Divya Dayal,Tushar Bharadwaj, Kartik ,  attempted  missions which were basically different chapters on ESD; students received more exposure to nature and closely understand the socio-economic and environmental linkages.
YMP provides a totally different experience other than the traditional learning method. The student groups also shared that YMP is a great learning opportunity for them and provides ample opportunity to develop an understanding about various issues across the world through the virtual global classrooms. YMP is also providing a platform to promote cross-learning among student groups belonging to other countries.

The program has been beneficial to the students in many aspects in enhancing their skills and various competencies. It has helped them in their personality development as they are now very effectively using the group discussions and also learning new technical skills. For each mission assignment, students also do presentation among themselves and thus learn and improvise as a team. Through virtual classroom interactions, students are also getting to know about various issues in different places and hence increasing their ‘Local to Global’ knowledgebase and also increasing their problem solving network.

The school provided them all possible help in carrying out the missions and conducting the outdoor interviews. The teacher incharge Ms. Rashmi Khurana guided them throughout the project. As a whole, the YMP programme has proved to be an interesting ESD tool for school students, where learning by doing method is promoted and students are encouraged to take action initiatives.
